Carri Chan received a B.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2004 and also received a S.M. from Stanford University in 2006. She completed her Ph.D. at the Information Systems Laboratory in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University in 2010. She joined the Columbia Business School in 2010.

Carri Chan is an Associate Professor in the Division of Decision, Risk, and Operations at Columbia Business School. Her research interests are in modeling complex stochastic systems, dynamic optimization, scheduling and queueing. Her current focus is on problems related to health-care operations management. In particular, she is considering how to improve patient flow through hospital Intensive Care Units.  She has collaborated with a number of hospitals including Kaiser Permanente and NY Presbyterian.
