As part of the Data Science Institute's flagship annual event, this virtual session will bring together thought leaders who are driving discussions on ethics and privacy in data science and engineering.

Ethics and Privacy: Terms of Usage will feature conversations and lightning talks on a range of topics, such as ensuring the responsible use of data, exposing algorithmic bias, and the benefits and risks of data sharing.

An update for attendees:

Following Columbia's evolving response to COVID-19, and in doing what's right for the safety and health of Data Science Day participants and the community-at-large, the team at the Data Science Institute has planned for these next steps:

1) March 31, 2020 has now turned into a virtual-only “Sneak Preview” release. This is intended to provide a preview of our September event, as well as highlight some of the research being conducted across the Institute. Details and information will be shared with you soon. 

2) The in-person conference will now be held on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Columbia University’s Alfred Lerner Hall (2920 Broadway, New York, NY 10027). If you have purchased a ticket for March 31, you have received a full refund. If you are able to join us in September, you can now register for September’s Data Science Day via the new Eventbrite page here


When will I receive virtual event information?

Virtual information (session URL location or webpage) will be shared with registered attendees prior to the event. Please anticipate this correspondence late Summer 2020.
