John Robertson teaches Social Policy, Advocacy and community organization at the Columbia School of Social Work (CSSW) He received a Ph.D. in labor economics and social policy from CSSW in 1995, and an M.S. in casework from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey in 1990. Dr. Robertson’s interests include neighborhood work with a focus on community development and organization, employment and family issues and the treatment of substance abusers. He is involved in community social work practice in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. He is presently developing an advanced masters course in GIS and infographics using survey data of New York City built by the Center on Poverty and Social Policy.
